{"id":33892,"date":"2022-12-15T22:36:51","date_gmt":"2022-12-16T06:36:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/athousandflowers.us\/?post_type=product&#038;p=33892"},"modified":"2026-05-27T23:59:13","modified_gmt":"2026-05-28T06:59:13","slug":"butterfly-bush-fallowiana-blue","status":"publish","type":"product","link":"https:\/\/athousandflowers.us\/index.php\/product\/butterfly-bush-fallowiana-blue\/","title":{"rendered":"Butterfly Bush, Fallowiana &#8216;Blue&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Buddleja\/ Buddleia fallowiana<\/em>\u00a0<em>| <\/em>Fallowiana Butterfly Bush &#8216;Blue&#8217; (blue flower form)<\/p>\n<p>A deciduous shrub native to Yunnan, Sichuan, and Xizang, China.<\/p>\n<p>Fallowiana or Fallows Butterfly Bush (named after George Fallow), also sometimes called Chinese Butterfly Bush, is a flowering shrub with arching branches bearing lance-shaped, heavily-felted, whitish, silvery-green leaves that are soft to the touch, and panicles of highly-fragrant pale blue with orange eyes, blooming from late summer into early fall. The aroma is similar to that of the <em>Buddleja davidii,\u00a0<\/em>but even sweeter. The flowers are similar too, but are a little bit smaller. The structure is similar, but fallowiana is slower growing, shorter, and a little more compact.<\/p>\n<p>The plants that grow from these seeds will have slight variation in the foliage fuzziness, plus flower structure and color.<\/p>\n<p><em>Buddleia fallowiana <\/em>naturally grows in open woodland, forest edges, and stream banks in mountainous elevations. In the garden, it grows best in fertile, free-draining soil in full sun. Will tolerate some shade. Goes mostly deciduous in winter and may die back to the ground in extremely cold winters. Site in a sheltered spot if possible.
