Verbascum lychnitis | <\/i>White Mullein<\/p>\n
White Mullein is a flowering plant that’s native to Europe and Central Asia. Rare in cultivation, it’s a tough, hardy, biennial forms narrow upright spikes of silver-green dusty foliage and long flowering stalks with clusters of loosely separated pure white flowers.<\/p>\n
Grows in waste places and calcareous banks on dry soils. Suitable for sandy, loamy and heavy clay soils and prefers well-drained soil. Full sun. Does not grow well in shade. Plant skeletons typically last throughout the winter.<\/p>\n
The tiny seeds are abundant and can remain viable in the soil for decades. Mulleins can be easily managed by manually removing the plants before seed-set, not disturbing the soil, or by establishing dense vegetative cover that will prevent seed germination. Sow seed indoors, or late spring to summer to early fall outdoors.<\/p>\n
Low maintenance, deer resistant, and attracts various pollinators like flies, moths & butterflies.<\/p>\n
