{"id":41611,"date":"2026-01-06T23:42:25","date_gmt":"2026-01-07T07:42:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/athousandflowers.us\/?post_type=product&#038;p=41611"},"modified":"2026-05-21T16:58:11","modified_gmt":"2026-05-21T23:58:11","slug":"germander-iranian-purple-tails","status":"publish","type":"product","link":"https:\/\/athousandflowers.us\/index.php\/product\/germander-iranian-purple-tails\/","title":{"rendered":"Germander, Iranian &#8216;Purple Tails&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Teucrium hyrcanicum<\/em> | Iranian Germander &#8216;Purple Tails&#8217;<\/p>\n<p id=\"NetPS-PlantLAPara1\">Iranian Germander, also known as Caucasian Germander, Iranian Wood Sage, or Purple Tails Wood Sage, is an herbaceous perennial with a mounded form of aromatic, sage-like green foliage, purple stems, and long, elegant spikes of fuschia-purple flowers that resemble an animals tail bloom from late summer to fall. &#8216;Purple Tails&#8217; looks much like <a href=\"https:\/\/athousandflowers.us\/index.php\/product\/speedwell-hybrid-first-love\/\">Long-leaf Speedwell<\/a> in habit and flower, but is more heat and drought tolerant plant.\u00a0Its relatively fine texture sets it apart from other garden plants with less refined foliage.<\/p>\n<p id=\"NetPS-PlantLAPara2\"><em>Teucrium hyrcanicum <\/em>is a relatively low maintenance plant and does best in full sun to partial shade. It will grow in poor soils, though optimum conditions are average, dry to medium moisture, well-drained soils. The soil should be kept consistently moist, until established. Once established it is drought tolerant.\u00a0Best cut back to the ground in late winter before active growth resumes.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s a good selection for planting in outdoor pots and containers and a great choice for attracting bees and butterflies. Fortunately it isn&#8217;t particularly attractive to deer who tend to leave it alone in favor of tastier treats.
