It&#8217;s a perennial bulbous flower species in the Amaryllidaceae family known for crocus-like flowers that burst into life a couple days after a summer thunderstorm ends a period of dryer weather, sending up a solitary flower that as with all former <i>Habranthus<\/i> species, is not fully upright on the stem but held at a slight angle, and characterized by its bright yellow petals with copper tones on the outside and orange-red center. It&#8217;s narrow, linear, glossy\u00a0leaves emerge after the flowers are finished.<\/p>\n<p>They are popular in borders, rock gardens, and containers, thriving in sun to partial shade and are not <span id=\"readmore-32392\">particular about soil conditions as long as drainage is good in the winter<\/span>. In time, they form a strong patch of foliage, multiplying both by bulb offsets and by seeds.
