Description
B. lindleyana x B. crispa | Butterfly Bush ‘Floral Fanfare’
Buddleja ‘Floral Fanfare’ is a fantastic new Buddleja variety that is completely different to the species and maybe the world’s first double flowered Butterfly Bush! The bright purple-violet racemes are like B. lindleyana but with 95% of the individual flowers showing spectacular double-petals! The flowers are unscented and completely sterile, so there wont be any unwanted seedlings.
It can be grown as a small shrub, although sometimes looks best when trained on a 3 ft stem to show off the pendulous flowers in a container or on a patio. Prune in late spring down to about 10 inches in height. The plant directs its energy into a long-lasting floral display from July all the way until the end of September! Regular removal of spent flowers will extend the flowering period.
Prefers a sheltered position in full sun and well drained soil.
