Description
Buddleja/Buddleia hybrid (B. marrubiifolia x B. cordata) | ‘Peter‘ Butterfly Bush
‘Peter’ is a rare and unusual Butterfly Bush cross bred by hybridizer Peter Podaras. It was introduced to the market around 2010 and consists of two mostly unknown Butterfly Bushes- the orange-flowered dessert shrub B. marrubiifolia and the pale yellow-flowered B. Cordata. The leaves and flowers look like a perfect pairing from both parents with fuzzy ovate leaves and flowers that are pale yellow and globose.
‘Peter’ does best when planted in full sun with well-draining soil. It does not like heavy soils or to be over-watered, especially when young, otherwise it’s an easy to grow and nice hardy plant down to zone 7. Drought tolerant once established. For the best shape, look, and performance, we always recommend pruning after it flowers.
