Description
Cynoglossum amabile | Chinese Forget-Me-Not ‘Firmament’
First introduced to gardens around 1935, this annual Chinese Forget-Me-Not (also known as Hounds Tongue) resembles the true forget-me-not (Myosotis), and are admired for supplying color to the early summer border.
Plants grow up to 18 inches tall with flowers appearing as sprays above the foliage. The unique dainty true-blue flowers, with their tiny, 5 scalloped-petals, possess a sweet innocence. Floriferous throughout the summer with three blooms per cluster and a half dozen clusters per plant. Dead-head spent flowers for more blooms. Dislikes heavy clay soils. Great for beginner gardeners and low-maintenance gardens. Reseeds freely.
