Description
Lobelia aguana | Lobelia Aguana
Lobelia aguana, sometimes sold as ‘Scarlet Bermuda Squid Plant’ is a tropical perennial flower collected from the slopes of Vulcán Zunil in the Cloud Forests of Guatemala. It has long deep-green linear evergreen leaves and clusters of bright-red, two-lipped, tubular 2″ flowers with a yellow-orange lower lip made of three fused petals, giving the flowers a distinctly tropical and stunning appearance. Under warm tropical conditions, Lobelia aguana can flower nearly year round, with the heaviest flowering occurring in summer and fall.
Lobelia plants are classic summer perennials, typically suited for baskets and containers, as well as borders. Lobelia aguana is certainly on the rare side, yet is easy to grow and flowers for months.
