Lobelia plants are summer bedding classic perennials, typically suited for baskets and containers, as well as borders. Lobelia are easy to grow and flower reliably from the end of the spring frosts right through to the start of the autumn frosts.
Lobelia aguana, sometimes sold as ‘Scarlet Bermuda Squid Plant’ is a tropical perennial tropical flower collected from from the slopes of Vulcán Zunil in the Cloud Forests of Guatemala, It has long deep-green linear evergreen leaves and clusters of bright-red, two-lipped tubular 2″ flowers with a yellow-orange lower lip made of three fused petals, giving the flowers a distinctly tropical appearance.
Under warm tropical conditions Lobelia aguana flowers nearly year round with the heaviest flowering in summer and fall.The flowers bloom along upright stems for many months.
Provide a full to mostly sunny site with average soil moisture and good drainage.
Attracts butterflies and hummingbirds year round in warmer zones.
