Description
Dracaena trifasciata (formerly Sanseviera trifasciata) | ‘Black Gold’ Snake Plant
Snake Plant, also commonly called Mother-in-Law’s Tongue, Devil’s Tongue, Viper’s Bowstring Hemp, African Bowstring Hemp, Saint Georges Sword, and African Spear Plant, is a hardy houseplant known for its air-purifying qualities (removing toxins like formaldehyde, benzene), and its ability to tolerate drought and low light.
The ‘Black Gold’ Snake Plant is a variety featuring tall, strong and sturdy, sword-shaped leaves that are rich, dark green, with bright gold edging. These vertically growing leaves grow in a cluster making the ‘Black Gold’ a striking architectural plant that adds a unique visual interest to any indoor space. Drought-tolerant and low-maintenance too, making it great for beginners. Can be easily propagated by leaf cuttings, so you can multiply your family of snake plants and give them away as gifts.
Plants grow best indoors in bright, indirect light with infrequent waterings in well-draining soil. These are adaptable plants and thrive on neglect, so should only be watered only when the soil is completely dry, often monthly in the cooler months, with warmer weather requiring more water. Prefers warm temperatures 60-85°F.
A great plant for beginners or anyone who says they kill every plant.
