Description
Sonchus gomerensis (syn. S. gonzalezpadronii) | La Gomera Sow-thistle
La Gomera Sow-thistle, also called Goomers Sow-thistle, was given its name due to its distribution on La Gomera in the Canary Islands. It’s a rare herbaceous perennial shrub on La Gomera Island that has lanceolate, triangular to ovate-lobed leaves with short inflorescences with sunny bunches of bright yellow flowers that burst out from the leaf rosette in spring and summer.
Grows well in full sun or part shade on mountainous slopes, regular or low water, and average, rich and well-drained soil. Plant in compost-enriched soil for the best performance.
Attracts bees, making it an excellent addition to tropical pollinator gardens.
