Description
Buddleja racemosa | Texas Butterfly Bush ‘Dripping Springs’ (A4T-026)
Texas Butterfly Bush ‘Dripping Springs’, also called Wand Butterfly Bush and Racemose Butterfly Bush, is a small, lax, dioecious shrub that’s not only native, but is endemic to a small range of the southern edge of the Edwards Plateau in Hays County, Texas where it grows on limestone cliffs and around streams, creeks and springs.
Buddleja racemosa grows to 3 feet with greyish-brown bark and persistent old branches covered with tiny silver-green leaves and racemes of small, pale-yellow globose flowers (like beads on a string) from spring through summer.
Grows in full sun in sharply drained, sandy/gravely or limestone soils. Does not like wet conditions. Works great to plant in a crevice garden or on top of a rock wall where it can be enjoyed as it cascades down.
