Description
Cosmos bipinnatus | Garden Cosmos ‘Apricot Lemonade’
Cosmos, also known as Mexican Aster, is a warm-weather annual native to Mexico with single, daisy-like blooms on top of wiry stems and delicate, fine-textured leaves. ‘Apricot Lemonade’ Cosmos has a prominent yellow center with a stunning bright-pink halo on the petals that fades to apricot and pale-yellow towards the outer edge. The gorgeous flowers appear to float on top of the stems as the plants sway in the breeze. Cosmos are a classic, tried-and-true, garden favorite that bloom for months on end.
The flowers attract bees, birds, hummingbirds and a bunch of butterflies, including monarchs. Deer resistant.
Cosmos do best when direct-sown outdoors after the last frost, but can be started early indoors, too. Will grow in hot sun and poor soil, and withstand drought conditions. Only water during extreme drought. Prefers full sun, but will tolerate some shade. Reseeds easily.
Makes exceptional cut flowers.
