Description
Myosotis alpestris | Alpine Forget-Me-Not ‘Pink’
Alpine Forget-Me-Not, also known as Scorpion Grass, originated from Europe and is one of the most well-known flower names due to the romantic legend: a medieval knight, gathering blue flowers along a stream for his lady love, was suddenly swept away by flood waters. As she disappeared, he tossed the bouquet to his lady with the immortal words, “Forget me not.”…making it one of the all-time world favorites among wildflowers used at funerals.
Alpine Forget-Me-Nots are an herbaceous, dainty perennial with a mounded form. Tiny 5-petaled pink flowers with yellow centers bloom in early summer. The flowers are essentially identical to the true forget-me-not, but alpine forget-me-nots are borne on shorter stalks (about 6 inches high).
Grows in full sun to part shade and prefers to be in moist conditions in woodlands and rock formations. It is not particular as to soil type or pH.
Recommended for mass planting, edging borders, ground cover, general garden use and naturalizing woodland gardens. Reseeds easily so will endure for years in the garden.
