Description
Cucurbita pepo | Tiger Stripe Pumpkin mix
This pumpkin originally came to us as a volunteer plant growing on the side of our large pile of soil. We can only assume a bird placed it there, and we are grateful because it’s a fun plant to see grow.
We harvested seeds from the Mini Tiger Stripe Pumpkin (also called Baby Tiger Pumpkin) and grew them out and discovered a range of tiger-striped pumpkins of various sizes and patterns, which is what we are offering here. The majority of pumpkins are white with orange stripes, slight ribbing, and with a distinctly flattened shape, while some take the more classic pumpkin shape, while others are larger orange pumpkins with white stripes (reversed), plus there’s an orange pumpkin with pale blotches, too!
Vines are somewhat compact and grow up to 5-6 ft long.
A great mixture of mini and larger sized pumpkin varieties for ornamental or culinary use.
Prefers moderately moist soils with full access to sunlight. Strong grower and is best suited for large areas where it works great as a cover for exposes soils, plus performs well in vegetable gardens, and on trellises. To maximize growth, add compost material to the surrounding soil. Mulching around the pumpkin aids with retaining moisture and reducing competition. Easily grown from seed, especially when soils are warm.
Tiger Stripe Pumpkins are unique and are a favorite of home gardeners because of their small size and varied patterns.
Easy to grow.
