Myosotis sylvatica | Woodland Forget-Me-Not ‘Rolled Gold’
Wood or Woodland Forget-Me-Not originated from Europe and is one of the most well-known flower names due to the romantic legend: a medieval knight, gathering blue flowers along a stream for his lady love, was suddenly swept away by flood waters. As she disappeared, he tossed the bouquet to his lady with the immortal words, “Forget me not.”…making it one of the all-time world favorites among wildflowers used at funerals.
‘Rolled Gold’ Forget-Me-Not was discovered as a chance seedling at Plant World in the United Kingdom. It’s an herbaceous biennial with a mounded form of golden leaves that are held beneath sprays of tiny 5-petaled blue and pink Forget-Me-Not flowers with yellow centers. This unique new form will gently self-sow making a blue-dotted golden carpet that will endure for years to come.
Does not like full sun and will go dormant in the summer. As such, it grows best in partial shade and prefers to be in moist to wet conditions, including shallow water like drainage ditches or along streams. It is not particular as to soil type or pH.
Recommended for mass planting, edging borders, ground cover, general garden use and naturalizing woodland gardens.
