Description
Polemonium yezoense var. hidakanum | Jacobs Ladder ‘Purple Rain’
Jacob’s Ladder, or Polemonium, is a mound-forming, deciduous or semi-evergreen perennial native to temperate cool regions of the Northern hemisphere. It originated from a single purple-leaf plant spotted in a group of normal, green-leaf plants. It’s an unusual and improved form of Jacobs Ladder with a lush mound of deep bronze-purple, ‘ladder’ foliage on upright stems that bear cymes of large, star-shaped, violet-blue flowers in late spring and early summer. The purple coloration of the leaves may vary according to the seedling or the season.
