Description
Psylliostachys suworowii (Limonium suworowii) | Russian Statice
Russian Statice, also known as Pink Pokers, Suworow Statice, and Rat Tail Statice, is a unique annual Statice variety with leaves that resemble those of dandelions before they shoot up long, thin green stems that sport elegant, panicles of striking carmine-pink flowers. The wavy panicles grow in an array of shapes that offer both interest and texture both in the flower garden and in flower arrangements for which they are so commonly grown. Flowers begin blooming in June and, if cut regularly, will continue to produce through August.
Once established, Russian Statice plants are fairly drought tolerant, and prefer hot days in full sun just as long as they’re in well drained soil. They seem to dislike cold and being transplanted.
Psylliostachys suworowii is a great addition to fresh cut flower bouquets and also holds its color well for dried flower crafts. Easy and spectacular! Deer resistant.
