Description
Cosmos bipinnatus | ‘Pink Sensation’ Garden Cosmos
Cosmos, also known as Mexican Aster, is a warm-weather annual native to Mexico with bright pink, single, daisy-like flowers with a prominent yellow center on top of tall stems and delicate, fine-textured leaves. The blooms appear to float on top of the stems as the plants sway in the breeze. A favorite classic cottage-garden and flower-garden flower.
Plant indoors, or direct-sow outdoors in mid to late spring. Will grow in hot sun and poor soil, and will withstand drought conditions. Only water during extreme drought. Tolerates some shade, but prefers full sun. Reseeds easily.
Cosmos flowers attract birds, hummingbirds and a crazy amount of butterflies, including monarchs.
Makes exceptional cut flowers.
