Calendula officinalis | Garden Marigold ‘Touch of Red Buff’
Calendula, also known as Garden Marigold, Pot Marigold, Common Marigold, Ruddles, Mary’s Gold or Scotch Marigold, is a cool-weather annual that that is grown in beds and borders for its daisy or chrysanthemum-like flowers that are ideal for bedding and border gardens.
The stunning ‘Touch of Buff’ Marigold has peach-cream petals on the front side with crimson on the back. The distinct two-tone look allows it to mix with almost any color in a garden border or inside in a vase.
Plants stay compact, growing to only -18″ tall. Easy to grow, quick to mature. Tolerates poor soil and appreciates filtered shade. Will flower all summer long; for the best blooms, do not over-water. Will reseed itself.
Direct-sow seeds in fall or early spring in the front of the garden beds, or start indoors. Germinates easily.
Attracts some beneficial insects and repels a couple of the bad ones. Calendula flowers are edible and taste great in salads. They can also be medicinal.
Makes exceptional cut flowers too.
