Description
Pachira aquatica | Variegated Money Tree
Money Tree, also called Money Plant, Malabar chestnut, French peanut, Guiana chestnut, Provision tree, Saba nut, Monguba (Brazil), and Pumpo (Guatemala) is a tropical, perennial, evergreen, broadleaf tree native to Central and South America with hand-shaped compound leaves consisting of up to 9 leaflets. The variegated form, or ‘Variegata’, is extremely rare and hard to find in cultivation. The dark green leaves are splashed with streaks of cream and white, giving a unique and beautiful look. Money trees have brown or gray bark and a slightly swollen trunk base, which serves as a water reservoir.
